The Inspiration behind The Festival of Light Weston-super-Mare
I woke up on July 9th 2007
after attempting without success to book a stand to sell my healing jewellery
at a local healing weekend. I'd asked several times over the course of 3 months
but with no joy. I now realise that this was a part of the Universal plan
for me and this spurred me to start ringing round to try and book in at other
suitable events. I had no real success until I decided to phone the
Winter Gardens in
Weston-super-Mare to find out dates of the healing events there. I spoke
to Jim McQuarrie the events manager and he explained that one event did not
happen anymore and another booked for October had just been cancelled. I
found myself saying "well I had better do it myself then as I have all the
skills", Jim immediately took me up on this and gave me the rate for one
of the suites. I decided that a Saturday in September just over 11 weeks
away would be good.
What had happened? Before that moment I had absolutely no plan to ever put on an event again and here I was back in the thick of it. I had put on motorcycle and lifestyle events for over twenty five years. This had started when I joined Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) and I was quickly appointed as a local representative, then almost immediately voted onto the National Committee as Rep's Liaison Officer. All this because of the work I had been doing for the group and yes I had ridden motorcycles since I was 15 years old. I travelled to various venues to help with stands, including the National Exhibition centre, Birmingham and Earl's Court in London . Then in the early 80's a small group of us put on a 10th Anniversary MAG event a Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park with Hawkwind topping the bill. I decided that I could put on an International Motorcycle event of my own with everything that I had already learnt.
The 1st was the Custom & Classic Bike Show at the Royal Bath & West Showground, this event is still running more than 25 years on. Then I started the Welsh Motorcycle Extravaganza at Builth Wells Showground, again this event still runs more than 20 years later. I was also running an event in Cardiff and a 2nd Classic event at the Royal Bath & West Showground when my daughter suddenly died of meningitis aged 17. I decided it was time to re-evaluate my life and end my work with MAG. It was 1994 and I threw myself into studying starting with Nutritional Medicine and Iridology in London and also home study. Then to college for O levels (I'd to leave school at 15) and enrolled with the Open University, 6 years later I had my honours degree in psychology. I am now a Doctor Of Metaphysical Sciences and have been ordained as a Reverend.
In 1999 a friend persuaded me to do an American Lifestyle event at the Three Counties Showground. We did this for three years but the Royal Bath & West was calling me back to do a similar event there, my business partner had a heart attack so I continued on my own. This was The American Show and lasted just two years. Great show but not enough paying visitors. As a single parent since 1998 I could not risk losing our home. I went into a decline as I missed working on my beloved events. I threw myself into work and study until I found my mouth saying yes to The New Healing Event. The Universe wanted me to do this work.
My life and my whole physiology changed immediately and I was back organising an event, bliss. It was just over 11 weeks from start to finish, on the big events I took 18 months to lead in! The first thing I did was put out an email to my business associates and other acquaintances. I had an immediate response, then I printed up some info and took it to the healing weekend I tried to get a stand at and just gave the details to those who I felt right for this event. By this time I had increased from one suite to three and on viewing them my breath was taken away by the central, circular suite. The circular ceiling dome had a roof light and lots of little lights which looked like stars. I had an immediate vision of circular rows of chairs, this had to be designated a healing room. As I progressed my plans included quite a few tables in this suite but I seemed to be selling the spaces in the suites either side first. I knew that this event must have free admission to the public. I had priced the spaces so that costs would be covered if they all sold, but a flat kind of a feeling was creeping up on me, a sure sign that all was not well. I sat down to meditate and immediately realised that I was compromising my original vision which focused on mass healings in that central suite. I made a decision not to sell any of that space but I would base myself there. I sent out an email to let potential space bookers know and within a day all the spaces for the whole event were sold.
However I was still getting a mass of enquiries for space and I was busy seeing how I could possibly fit them in, but I was encroaching on the Healing suite once more. The Universe needed to make itself clear to me again and none of the dozen potential space bookers actually followed up. Then it hit me again I was not to book others into this suite, I was slipping back into the wrong way for this event! I finalised my plan and had to do a bit of juggling to get everyone in the best positions possible but there was one lapse for which I hope I have been forgiven. Everything I have ever done in the past seemed to be just practice for where I now found myself. I decided to position Bristol and District Healers and the National Federation of Spiritual Healers facing into the Healing Suite from their places in the other two suites as this would combine some great healing energies, it certainly seemed to work on the day.
I asked Jim to arrange the seats in the Healing suite in circles with n-s and e-w aisles which echoes the sign for the Earth. Bless him he went out and bought a compass. Everyone turned up and the atmosphere was brilliant, I led the three mass healing sessions and the energies were very powerful. I had been working with these energies from the moment I booked the three suites and on the morning of the event I lay in the bath and worked some more and for the first time ever I experienced the sight, sound and feel of the heart of the Earth beating, wonderful. I am going to continue twice a year. I did not sell much of my healing jewellery or amulets as I was so busy running the event and working towards the three mass healing sessions. I had such a laid back feeling whilst pulling this fabulous event together because I KNEW the right people would be there. The Universe is in charge of this!
After three Healing Events I decided it was time for a name change so at 5pm on Saturday September 27th Festival of Light was born and the dates for 2009 were selected, 30th May and 26th September, both Saturdays as my events always work best on the day governed by Saturn. The sixth event has just taken place with around 500 visitors and the next Festival of Light is on Saturday 25th September 2010.
I always meditate on the morning of each event and as I tuned in for September 25th 2010 I was immediately aware of the central, circular Grove Suite being filled by the energy of the sun. I worked with this until all three suites were immersed in this powerful, masculine solar energy then travelled to the Winter Gardens to start setting everything up.
The event now runs 3 times a year April, June, September and dates have been booked until the end of 2013. The decision to increase the number of Festivals of Light in Weston-super-Mare came after the realisation that stands were getting fully booked from one event until the next and indeed the December 11th Event has been fully booked for some time. Saturday 11th December 2010 is the eighth event.
The morning of the 9th Festival of Light Saturday 16th April began when I focused on the central circular Grove Suite and immediately I saw a very large serpent at least 100 ' long and about 18" diameter. He/she was powerfully circling the Grove Suite in an anti-clockwise direction and once the energies in this suite had been raised the other two suites were included flowing in a sort of double infinity symbol to draw the three suites together. This was another great event with masses of people in attendance.
My visualisation on the morning of the 10th Festival of Light on Saturday 25th June 2011 focused on the layout of the chairs in the centre of the circular Grove Suite. This was the designated area for the talks and presentations. I had arranged the chairs to be set out in a large 'smile' format and this then formed into a large round yellow face, you probably know the one I mean. The Grove Suite then accommodated a huge golden sun turning slowly and filling the whole space. When I focused on the Clarence Suite where the readers were located I got a beautiful scarlet colour, and the Ashcombe Suite was pure white.
On the morning of each Festival of Light when I am soaking in the bath at around 5am I link in to the areas that we use and see what I am shown. So on the morning of the 11th Festival of Light on Saturday 17th September this was my vision. Immediately there were beautiful flowers rising out of the centre of the circular suite, the Grove Suite, right where my stand was. More and more of the apple blossom type flowers went on to fill the suite and then vines or trees formed close against the walls. The vines/trees grew up the walls and into the dome and cascades of these flowers in white and pale pink hung down from above. The Grove was bathed in sunshine. I looked in the Clarence Suite closest to the cafe where the readers were situated and the same had occurred and there was a lovely lightness throughout this suite. The next stop was the Ashcombe Suite closest to the booking office where the presentations, workshops, healing, spiritual artwork, aura camera and the Esoteric Society were housed and again the vines/trees were in place. It was clear and light in the presentation area, and a more intimate diffused light in the other half, this put me in the mind of twilight. This had happened simultaneously in all three suites. For each Festival I am shown something different, the next will be the 12th on 21st April 2012. This event belongs to the Universe, I wait for the Universe to send me the right people and then I do the rest.
